Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota is entering the final year of his contract, and there has been no indication that the two sides are working towards a new deal. For some players, it might really bother them and affect their play on the field, but it's something that Mariota isn't worried about.

“My mentality as a competitor never changes. I'm going to do my best to be at my best when the season comes and do my best to win games. All that other stuff will take care of itself,” Mariota said KHON.

Mariota has made it clear he loves the city of Nashville, but he also knows this a business and the organization has to do what's best for him. He is just going to try to do everything in his power this year to stay healthy and try to help the team win games.

“Obviously I love Nashville, I love Tennessee. It's a great organization to play for. With that being said, they got, it's a business and you can't take any of that stuff personal. You just got to go out there and do your thing. No matter what, my number one goal is to get healthy and from there just become a better football player and do my best to be my best when the season comes so we can win games.”

Each of the last three years Mariota has led the Titans to 9-7 seasons, including a playoff appearance in 2017. If the team does decide to move on from him next offseason he should be able to find a new starting gig pretty quickly.

In case Mariota goes down with another injury, Tennessee acquired Ryan Tannehill from the Miami Dolphins to be his backup in 2019.
