Heading into the regular season finale against the Indianapolis Colts, the Tennessee Titans are in position to secure one of the Wild Card spots.

The Titans could potentially be without starting quarterback Marcus Mariota for the contest as he was unable to practice on Wednesday morning, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota said on Wednesday morning that he’d do everything in his power to play against the Colts on Sunday night, but the stinger that knocked him out of last weekend’s game didn’t allow him to do anything on the field Wednesday.

Mariota suffered an elbow injury during last Saturday's 25-16 win over the Washington Redskins that knocked him out of the game. He was replaced by backup Blaine Gabbert, who was able to do just enough to help push the Titans toward a huge victory that has kept them in the playoff picture.

It has been a difficult 2018 campaign for Mariota, as he has struggled to stay healthy as he missed a game earlier this season due to another elbow injury. He has also struggled to take steps forward with his play on the field as he has continued to have difficulty breaking through as a passer.

There are still a couple of days for Mariota to prove in practice that he can give it a go, but this may be an early indication that Gabbert will be under center for Sunday's contest. Ultimately, this entire situation will have more clarity in the coming days.
