The Tennessee Titans are reportedly locked in a two-man race for the services of free agent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. While the negotiations are ongoing, head coach Mike Vrabel is not looking to add any more fuel to the fire.

Vrabel was rather coy with his recent update on the contract situation with Clowney, via Jim Wyatt of the team's official website:

It is easy to see why Vrabel may be refraining from speaking too much on the potential addition of Clowney. With the start of the 2020 NFL season just over a week away, he is focused on creating a defensive game plan that utilizes the players currently at his disposal.

Fortunately, it would not take much for Vrabel to fine-tune the scheme around Clowney should both sides come to terms on a deal. After all, they have had ample time to analyze his fit after being linked to him throughout the course of the unprecedented offseason due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Of course, the Titans have had their work cut out trying to make a deal with Clowney come to fruition. Reports now indicate that they are facing heavy competition from a New Orleans Saints team that is also looking to provide a boost to the pass-rushing department.

Both teams meet part of Clowney's requirements to join a bonafide playoff contender. However, it now remains to be seen which team is willing to meet his lucrative price tag. Despite coming off a down year from a production standpoint, he is still considered to be one of the elite edge rushers in the NFL.
