Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has had his fair share of struggles since coming into the league in 2015, but, interestingly enough, most of those struggles have occurred over the last two years.

Mariota is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he had difficulty staying healthy, starting 13 games and throwing for just 2,528 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 68.9 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 92.3.

He was even worse in 2017, throwing for 3,232 yards, 13 touchdowns and 15 picks, recording a completion percentage of 62 percent and a passer rating of 79.3.

However, in spite of the trouble Mariota has been having, Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk still believes that he will be the franchise quarterback moving forward:

“Marcus, I want him to be successful,” said Strunk, according to Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official team website. “I want him to be our franchise quarterback.”

Strunk added that injuries certainly played a role in Mariota's struggles this past season and that he just needs to stay healthy:

“It was a tough year from an injury standpoint last year, and I know that Marcus is raring to go and prove that he can be that guy,” Strunk said.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oregon, was originally selected by Tennessee with the second overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He made 12 starts during his rookie campaign, finishing with 2,818 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 62.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 91.5.

The Honolulu, Hi. native was then impressive in 2016, totaling 3,426 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine picks, completing 61.2 percent of his passes and tallying a passer rating of 95.6.
