The last two years have been rough for Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, as he has battled injuries and inconsistency which has led some to wonder whether or not he is truly the Titans' signal-caller of the future.

Well, Mariota has a future Hall-of-Famer in his corner, as Peyton Manning is rooting for the youngster to reach his potential:

“I pull for quarterbacks, so I hope Marcus stays healthy and I think having Mike there will establish some consistency and continuity — that’s what quarterbacks look for is continuity,” said Manning, according to Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official team website. “So having the same coach and hopefully the same coordinator multiple years – I know he hasn’t necessarily had that in his career – should help him. So I always pull for Marcus and wish him the best.”

Manning has known Mariota for quite some time, as Mariota was a counselor at Manning's football camp for three years while he was playing for the Oregon Ducks.

Mariota is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played 14 games and threw for 2,528 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 68.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 92.3.

The 25-year-old, who was originally selected by Tennessee with the second overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, actually got off to a good start over his first two NFL seasons, particularly in 2016 when he threw for 3,426 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine picks, but since then, it has been a downward spiral for Mariota.

Perhaps the Hawaiian can get back on track in 2019.
