The Tennessee Titans will no longer have the on-field services of the pair of tight end Jonnu Smith and offensive tackle Jack Conklin, as the two have been placed by the team on the injured reserve, per Turron Davenport of ESPN.

The Titans placed TE Jonnu Smith and RT Jack Conklin on injured reserve. HC Mike Vrabel seemed to hold out hope when he spoke to the media yesterday but the season is over for two of their starters. TE Anthony Firkser and RT Dennis Kelly are likely replacements in the starting lineup.

The confirmation of the absences of Smith and Conklin for the rest of the year is a big blow to the Titans’ offense, which is showing signs of marked improvement of late. The Titans are on a two-game win streak, having defeated the New York Jets in Week 13, 26-22, before taking down the Jacksonville Jaguars, 30-9, in Week 14.

Jonnu Smith made a premature exit in the Jaguars game after sustaining a knee injury. It was later determined that he sustained an MCL injury. Conklin, on the other hand, also went down with a knee injury suffered in last week’s meeting with Jacksonville, which turned out to be a Pyrrhic victory for the Titans, given the losses of two starters to health issues picked up from that contest. This is also another bad break for Conklin, who missed the first three games of this season to recover from an ACL injury he sustained in the AFC Divisional Round loss to the New England Patriots earlier this year.

The Titans will meet the New York Giants in East Rutherford in Week 15.
