The Tennessee Titans receive some good news heading into their Monday Night Football matchup with the Houston Texans. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota is expected to be under center for the team in Week 12 after getting limited designations during the team’s practice sessions last Wednesday and Thursday.

For the Monday night game, #Titans QB Marcus Mariota (stinger) practiced fully again today and was taken off the injury report. He’ll start.

Mariota suffered a stinger in the first half of last week’s embarrassing 38-10 road loss to Indianapolis, which forced him out for the rest of the contest. Before he left, he had 85 passing yards with zero touchdowns against an interception on 10-of-13 completions. Backup Blaine Gabbert stepped subbed for Mariota and finished with 118 passing yards to go with a touchdown and an interception on 11-of-16 completions.

With Mariota seemingly given a green light to take the field this coming Monday, the Titans will have their No. 1 quarterback in a matchup with Houston for the first time this season. Mariota also missed Tennessee’s 20-17 win at home over the Texans back in Week 2 due to an elbow issue.

Having Marcus Mariota back definitely boosts the chances of the 5-5 Titans, who have a golden chance to hit two birds with one stone in the Houston contest. If they beat Houston (7-2) again, the Titans will not only cut the Texans’ lead atop the AFC South, but also keep their hopes of at least securing a wild card slot in the playoffs.
