The Tennessee Titans have a crowded quarterback room ahead of the 2022-2023 season. Tennessee drafted Malik Willis 86th overall after he was projected to be picked up in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

As the current quarterback for the Titans, it's safe to say that Ryan Tannehill wasn't thrilled with the acquisition. In fact, he said that the team didn't inform him of the decision to draft Willis ahead of time. However, none of this stopped Tannehill from congratulating his new teammate immediately after his name was called.

Paul Kuharsky tweeted the clip from Tannehill's media availability Tuesday afternoon.

“I texted Malik right after we drafted him…I wasn't informed of that beforehand,” the Titans quarterback said. “I have no problems with Malik and we're looking to add talent and guys that can help us so we'll add him to the room and go from there.”

Tannehill also discussed the congested quarterback situation in Tennessee at his media appearance. He said that with him and Willis “competing against each other,” it isn't his job to mentor him.

“We're competing against each other. We're watching the same tape, we're doing the same drills. I don't think it's my job to mentor him, but, if he learns from me along the way then that's a great thing.”

Willis was one of the top quarterback prospects in the draft. After a remarkable college career and outing at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, he is sure to give Tannehill a run for his money.
