The restrictions placed by the league in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has forced the league to take unprecedented action ahead of the 2020 NFL season. Fortunately, all the changes have not been too big of an adjustment for Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Teams around the league are relying heavily on video-conferencing apps to help them prepare for the virtual offseason workouts. According to ESPN's Turron Davenport, Tannehill is optimistic that he and his receiving corps are on the right track:

“I get to be myself and be the leader that I am,” Tannehill said. “I am able to voice my opinion as far as how I want a guy to run a route … so that we are all on the same page. It's tougher to look at a screen or phone call, a text message or FaceTime.

“Being able to communicate during meetings exactly what I want on certain routes or releases or at the top of the route … it's the same stuff that we'd be doing if we were in a traditional meeting together.”

It has been quite an eventful offseason for Tannehill. Even he acknowledged that it was difficult not to get caught up in all the rumors surrounding the Titans' interest in now-Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady. Fortunately, he can take solace in the fact that both sides are ready too move forward for the long haul after signing a four-year, $118 million extension.

With Tannehill, the Titans were able too avoid any significant turnover on offense. Although this should help pay huge dividends amid the ongoing outbreak, he is clearly anxious to get to work with his receiving corps in person.

After all, expectations are as high as ever coming off an impressive playoff run in the 2019 campaign. The onus will fall on Tannehill to show that he is capable of serving as more than just a game manager behind running back Derrick Henry. The reigning Comeback Player of the Year will need to provide the Titans bang for their buck if they are going to take that next step to the Super Bowl.
