The Tennesee Titans have been anxious to get Jeffery Simmons back on the field and it appears as if he is ready to go. According to Ian Rapoport, Tennessee is activating its first-round pick ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Since the Titans selected Simmons, the highly touted defensive lineman has been on the non-football injury list after tearing his ACL during a pre-draft workout. Coming into the draft, Simmons was regarded as a top-10 talent in the draft.

But due to the knee injury, the Mississipi State product fell to the 19th overall pick to the Titans. After practicing for the first time this season, Tennessee will be adding him to the roster for Week 7.

When the Titans selected Simmons, they were ecstatic to pair him with veteran Jurrell Casey. Casey has been one of the most consistent defensive linemen in the NFL since he arrived in 2011.

Even without Simmons playing a snap this season, Tennessee has the eighth-ranked defense in the league. In addition, they've also managed to corral 18 sacks as a team (tied with the Green Bay Packers for fifth-most in the NFL).

Along with Casey and Simmons, the Titans also have Cameron Wake and Harold Landry getting after the quarterback. Now, they'll get to see a preview of things to come with Simmons being able to play on Sunday.

With Simmons being activated, the team released Brent Urban on Saturday morning. Urban only played in four games (zero starts) for the Titans this year after spending his first five seasons in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens.
