Delanie Walker's long and successful tenure with the Tennessee Titans could be coming to a close.

According to John Glennon of The Athletic, Walker is at risk of being cut by the Titans this offseason after playing in just seven games this season due to another ankle injury.

Walker is slated to earn $5.4 million in base salary in 2020. And if Tennessee parts ways with him, it would save $6.4 million.

Glennon notes that the Titans could always renegotiate Walker's contract. But the club may just end up moving on due to the emergence of fellow tight end Jonnu Smith this year.

Walker initially joined Tennessee back in 2013 and quickly developed into one of the best tight ends in the NFL.

His first season with the team represented a breakout year. He caught 60 passes for 571 yards and six touchdowns, all of which were career highs at the time.

The following season, Walker continued to improve, snaring 63 passes for 890 yards and four scores. And in 2015, Walker made his first of three straight Pro Bowl appearances after hauling in 94 receptions for 1,088 yards while reaching the end zone six times.

However, over the last couple of years, ankle issues have severely limited Walker. He suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 1. He returned this season and logged 21 catches for 215 yards and a couple of touchdowns in seven contests before being dealt another ankle injury that would knock him out for the year.

The 35-year-old spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers before linking up with the Titans.
