The Tennessee Titans opted to pick up cornerback Adoree Jackson's fifth-year option. However, it seems the same cannot be said for wide receiver Corey Davis.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Titans have declined Davis' fifth-year option:

The Titans are declining WR Corey Davis' fifth-year option, source said.

Tennessee made quite the investment when they took Davis with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft in an effort to bolster the receiving corps. Unfortunately, he has largely struggled to find his footing as a bonafide No. 1 option in the passing game. He is now coming off an underwhelming 2019 campaign that saw him haul in 43 receptions for 601 yards and just two touchdowns.

Picking up Davis' fifth-year option would have carried a $15.68 million salary for Davis in the 2021 NFL season. It is safe to say that he has not provided the Titans with very much bang for their buck. And his future with the tam now remains uncertain as ever.

Fortunately, Tennessee can take solace in the fact that wide receiver A.J. Brown has proven to be quite the steal after being taken in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He emerged as one of the best wideouts in the league down the stretch of his rookie campaign. He is now prepared to kick things up a notch with quarterback Ryan Tannehill returning under center.

The onus will fall on the former top draft pick to prove that he can serve as a solid complementary option to Brown in the passing game. Especially if he hopes to earn a new deal after the 2020 NFL season.
