The Tennessee Titans fell to a disappointing 27-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins that was ravaged by injuries to a few key players that have put them a bit behind the eight ball.

Among those injuries was quarterback Marcus Mariota suffering an elbow injury that he felt discomfort that led to the team taking him out of the game with Blaine Gabbert stepping into the action. According to Paul Kuharsky of The Midday 180, head coach Mike Vrabel voiced that he the team is still hopeful that Mariota's injury isn't significant.

Mariota had voiced following the game that he had trouble gripping the ball due to the injury that was evident by his struggles in the passing game completing 9-of-16 passes for 103 yards along with throwing a pair of interceptions. This made the decision to pull him from the game an easy choice, while also preventing him from suffering what could be a more troublesome ailment.

The Titans are hoping that Mariota could take a significant leap forward this season after going through a difficult 2017 season where he had notable drops across the board throwing 13 less than touchdowns while committing six more interceptions in the process. This comes just a year after he threw for a career-high 26 touchdown passes that helped him earn a spot as a Pro Bowl alternate. Despite that, he was able to help guide the franchise to a playoff appearance for the first time in nearly a decade while reaching the division round.

Tennessee will continue to keep a close eye on the entire situation that could see Mariota out of action for Week 2 against the Houston Texans and possibly further than that. If he's unable to give it a go, the team will likely turn to Gabbert, who threw for 117 yards on 11-of-22 completed passes with an interception. The Titans currently have no other quarterback on the 53-man roster.
