The Tennessee Titans are in line to be one of the best teams in the NFL next season. They participate in the AFC South, which is easily the worst division in that conference. Regardless, the roster is solid throughout with minimal holes remaining for the 2022 NFL Draft. On Wednesday, the front office made a decision on Jeffery Simmons, which bodes well for the future of this franchise.

According to Jim Wyatt, “the Titans have exercised the fifth-year option for Jeffery Simmons.” One of the league's best defensive tackles remains in Tennessee for at least one more season. Additionally, this allows the front office to figure out a long-term contract extension for their star defensive lineman while he continues playing this year.

This is huge news for the Titans. The defense will have 10 starters from last season return to the field with Jeffery Simmons serving as the focal point. He's an absolute monster in the trenches, as he's proven to completely wreak havoc in the backfield. Now, Tennessee is in line to be competitive this year while figuring out their long-term plans for Simmons next offseason.

Jeffery Simmons could be in for a career year. He's the closest thing to Aaron Donald in the NFL and has improved his skill set exponentially. The Titans aim to go on a Super Bowl run and having Simmons lead the way will only help this defense moving forward. As long as he remains in Tennessee, this franchise will remain competitive on the defensive side of the ball.
