The Tennessee Titans suffered a significant loss to their secondary with safety Johnathan Cyprien suffering a season-ending ACL tear earlier this week.

According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, the Titans have immediately found his replacement in free agency with veteran safety Kenny Vaccaro after working him out on Friday.

Vaccaro spent his first five years in the league with the New Orleans Saints where he developed into one of the better players at his position behind his hard-hitting approach on the field. However, the injury bug has also factored into the equation as he has only played one complete season in his career. He once again dealt with those nagging issues as he saw his 2017 campaign end prematurely due to groin surgery finishing with 60 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, seven pass deflections, and a forced fumble in 12 games played.

He had remained afloat in the free agent market over the last few months drawing interest from a few teams such as the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins that led to visits with each franchise. Things never progressed to anything serious with those teams as he was one of the top safeties left on the open market alongside Eric Reid. In fact, the Titans had also reached out to Eric Reid with possible interest but chose to go with Vaccaro to fill the huge void in the secondary.

This is an opportunity for the 27-year-old to re-establish himself as one of the league's better safeties after an injury-plagued 2017 campaign. Vaccaro is also joining a team on the rise with the Titans, who reached the playoffs for the first time in nine years. He has a chance to cement a long-term role with the franchise or put himself in the position to earn a new contract next offseason for another organization.
