The Tennessee Titans lost a key part of their defense for the season after safety Johnathan Cyprien suffered a torn ACL. That’s left the Titans with just three recognized safeties — Kevin Byard, Kendrick Lewis, and Brynden Trawick — currently on the roster. But they play to bring in reinforcements in free agency, starting with Kenny Vaccaro.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

It’s rare for a top safety free agent to still be on the market in August, but former #Saints S Kenny Vaccaro still is… and he’s visiting the #Titans tomorrow, source said. He’s had multiple offers, but hadn’t found the right situation yet.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel also said the team will contact the agent of another veteran free-agent safety in Eric Reid about a possible visit.

Vaccaro, 27, spent his first five years with the New Orleans Saints. He was linked with the Cowboys, Dolphins, and Jets early in the offseason, but has been unable to land a deal.

Vaccaro has struggled to stay on the field over the last couple of years. He’s missed nine games in the last two years, including four last year as he had to have surgery for groin and wrist injuries. Although, he has recorded five interceptions and 2.5 sacks in those two seasons despite his limited playing time.

As for Reid, the 26-year-old spent five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He was an immediate starter for the Niners and was a Pro Bowler as a rookie. He also has great versatility and has played in several different roles on defense.

But like Vaccaro, Reid has had some recent injury problems which have seen him miss time. He’s also missed nine games over the last two seasons.
