The first three months of the year have been packed with great games – making it very hard to top. Meanwhile, here are the Top 10 New Games of Q2 2022, which is still looking good, in spite of not having as many releases as there were in Q1. Nintendo also headlines Q2 due to the number of great games they are releasing these following months – but we do hope Sony and Microsoft also leave us with some surprises. In any case, here they are:

Top 10 New Games of Q2 2022 (New Games of April to June 2022)

1. Nintendo Switch Sports
Release Date: April 29, 2022
Developed By: Nintendo EPD
Published By: Nintendo
Platforms: Nintendo Switch

The successor to the best-selling Wii game comes this April – Nintendo Switch Sports. Unveiled during a Nintendo Direct, Nintendo Switch Sports was a nice surprise back then and is now a legitimate contender for the best game to release in April 2022. The game consists of three sports – Tennis, Bowling, and Chambara or Japanese sword fighting – and three new sports – Soccer, Volleyball, and Badminton. The excitement is high for Soccer which gives players a higher motion-control agency than what was possible for the Wii back then – even allowing players to strap the Joy-Con on their legs to simulate kicks. The game will also allow for online play, but we're sure that families across the world will appreciate playing this game as a unit together in the living room.

2. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Release Date: April 5, 2022
Developed By: Traveller's Tales
Published By: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch

Perhaps the biggest release this month, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga compiles the entire movie franchise into a single, massive, epic game. Each film in the series will be afforded give levels each, giving the game a whopping total of 45 fully-fledged Lego levels. Combat has been reinvented in the game, even featuring a new over-the-shoulder shooting mechanic for blasters as well as a combo system for lightsaber users. Exploration also plays a part in the game, as players get to roam game hubs in the form of the different planets and moons in the franchise, featuring some of the series' most iconic landmarks. The game also comes with cool exclusive goodies in both physical and digital forms – check them out here.

3. MLB The Show 22
Release Date: April 5, 2022
Developed By: San Diego Studio
Published By: Sony Interactive Entertainment, MLB Advanced Media
Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch

Sometimes overshadowed by the more popular FIFA and NBA 2K sports series of video games, MLB The Show has been building itself up as a serious contender over the years, even successfully killing off long-time competitor R.B.I Baseball. Although usually quiet and not that featured in the limelight, MLB The Show 22 will definitely be picked up regardless. Baseball is, after all, America's favorite pastime. This year will be the first iteration of MLB The Show that has an increased focus on the current-gen consoles, albeit the game is available to previous-gen consoles as well. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will feature 4K 60 FPS gameplay, as well as an advanced arena creation utility that will let players design their arenas to their wishes. MLB The Show 22 comes out free at no additional cost to Xbox Game Pass subscribers and will be the first game in the series coming out for the Nintendo Switch.

4. Evil Dead: The Game
Release Date: May 13, 2022
Developed By: Boss Team Games
Published By: Saber Interactive
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch

Evil Dead: The Game is an upcoming survival horror video game based on the Evil Dead franchise, featuring gameplay similar to Friday the 13th and Dead by Daylight. However, unlike those games, Evil Dead: The Game will also feature a single-player mode. The game features skill tree mechanics, multiple maps, and a plethora of weapons. Evil Dead: The Game is the first mainstream game to come out of the franchise, following Evil Dead: Regeneration in 2005 for the PS2, Xbox, and PC, and follows up on 2018's Evil Dead: Virtual Nightmare for the Oculus Go.

5. Rogue Legacy 2
Release Date: April 28, 2022
Developed By: Cellar Door Games
Published By: Cellar Door Games
Platforms: PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X

Originally, our #5 slot was for Two Point Campus, but that game got delayed to August. More details here.

So, in lieu of Two Point Campus, we're instead featuring a game coming out sooner than August. Rogue Legacy 2 is finally coming out in full this April 28, 2022. The game has been out for a while in Early Access on Steam, but the full release is finally coming to PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The first Rogue Legacy was among the rogue-like games that sprouted during the late 2000s and early 2010s, and believe it or not, that game contributed to popularizing the rogue-like genre. In Rogue Legacy, you play as a lineage of knights exploring a castle, and each time your current character dies, you continue playing as a descendant, who gains traits based on the experience and achievements of their ancestors, and the procedurally-generated castle as well changing depending on the outcome of your previous runs. Rogue Legacy 2 brings more of that gameplay, with more classes added to the game like the Ranger and the Barbarian.

6. Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong
Release Date: May 19, 2022
Developed By: Big Bad Wolf
Published By: Nacon
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch

The Vampire: The Masquerade fandom will finally get a follow-up to the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines CRPG game. The middling reviews for the 2004 Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt made long-time fans of the series and of the franchise wanting for more. While Swansong won't be the action-packed CRPG game that fans have been long waiting for, fans will still keep tabs on it for its strong emphasis on narrative storytelling, something that Bloodhunt is lacking. Swansong will also help tide the wait for the upcoming Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt 2, which remains to be in development hell.

7. Sons of the Forest
Release Date: May 20, 2022
Developed By: Endnight Games
Published By: Endnight Games
Platforms: PC

The sequel to the 2014 survival horror game The Forest, Sons of the Forest sees players surviving all on their own again stranded on an island filled with cannibals. The game continues the same gameplay loop of the previous game, allowing players to carve their own path in survival, offering no quests or missions to structure the player's sessions. Better graphics will afford the game a new interest from those who haven't tried the original, and it seems that the game will not require a playthrough of the first game for players to enjoy it. While we know nothing about the game's plot yet, Sons of the Forest interestingly sets up nicely with the story of the original, as one of The Forest's endings had the son of the protagonist exploring an island called “Site 2”, years after the original game's events.

8. Sniper Elite 5
Release Date: May 26, 2022
Developed By: Rebellion Developments
Published By: Rebellion Developments

Sniper Elite 5 is the latest from the popular third-person tactical shooter series. With over 20 million copies sold, the Sniper Elite series is one of the most successful war franchises of all time, and Sniper Elite 5 is looking to continue the legacy. In the fifth installment, the player will control a US Ranger in a covert operation along the coast of Britanny, France, fighting against the German invaders, giving the players a big role in the success of the European theater of the war, thwarting the Germans' Operation Kraken.

The third game in the Mario Strikers series, Mario Strikers: Battle League comes this June. Being the most successful among Mario's sports crossover games, it's not surprising that Nintendo finally pulled the trigger on yet another Mario Strikers sequel. In the game, players compete in 5v5 soccer games, playing in competitive but chaotic environments where it's generally no-holds-barred. The over-the-top gameplay encourages aggressive tackles and the use of special items and abilities to pull the advantage towards your team's favor. The game features mainstay Mario crossover characters, including Donkey Kong and the rest of the Mario cast.

10. Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
Release Date: June 24, 2022
Developed By: Omega Force, Team Ninja
Published By: Nintendo
Platforms: Nintendo Switch

Finally, we have a new Fire Emblem Warriors game. While the first Fire Emblem Warriors game focused on characters from the past series and featured two new playable characters as protagonists, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes instead focuses on the Three Houses world and lets players take control of the characters from the game. Just like other Omega Force games, Fire Emblem Warriors is a chaotic hack-and-slash game that sees players slash through thousands of opponents as one overpowered character.
