The upcoming NFL playoffs will be devoid of some of the biggest stars in football today – and apparently also some of the league’s best-paid quarterbacks. In fact, according to this post by Bleacher Report on Sunday, the playoffs will be without the six highest-paid signal-callers in 2016.

Talk about seeing money burn on the field for a number of NFL teams.

Three of those players are from the NFC North division with Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings, and Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions all bundled together. Both Rodgers and Cousins signed super-sized multi-year deals with their respective teams. That they are not going to playoffs is undeniably frustrating for their franchises’ fans, especially when considering the Packers and the Vikings entered the 2018 season as among the favorites not only to win the division but also the Super Bowl.

As for Stafford, he was only able to lead the Lions to a 6-10 record in the second leg of a five-year deal worth $135 million he signed in 2017.

Like those three aforementioned NFC North quarterbacks, Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders and Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons went through a catastrophic 2018. The Raiders were slowed down by injuries and internal issues to finish with a 4-12 record, while the Falcons were also hit by a rash of injuries on their way to a 7-9 slate.

Jimmy Garoppolo of the San Francisco 49ers could relate to any topics related to injuries. Seen as a franchise-saver when he inked a five-year $137.5 million with the Niners back in February, the former New England Patriots backup was only able to play three games in the 2018 season due to a serious knee injury he suffered back in Week 3.

Needless to say, all these quarterbacks’ teams will have a very interesting offseason ahead of them.
