Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has not yet been selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the major endorsement deals are pouring in. He just signed a huge deal with sports drink company Gatorade, per Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports.
“Lawrence’s deal with Gatorade could be worth up to $2 million,” stated Bob Dorfman, a Baker Street Advertising creative director who specializes in rating endorsement potential. “Since Lawrence is already a household name, he could rake in $5-7 million in endorsement dollars his rookie season. Lawrence is the first quarterback signed by Gatorade since Cam Newton in 2012.
Cam Newton was drafted number one overall by the Carolina Panthers and was one of the most marketable stars in the NFL with his exciting play and charisma.
Just days before the draft, Lawrence is starting to adapt to the new life in front of him, according to Nick Kosko of 247Sports.
The common narrative surrounding Lawrence is that he is the highest-rated quarterback since Andrew Luck coming out of Stanford. Luck had a successful, albeit relatively short career, due to injuries. He had four Pro Bowl selections and won the Comeback Player of the Year award in 2018.
If Trevor Lawrence has a career anywhere near Luck's then the Jaguars really hit the lottery. Luck's career should serve as a lesson to the Jacksonville front office. While Lawrence is a generational talent, he still needs to have a solid team, especially the offensive line around him. This will bring out the best in Lawrence and extend his career.
