The Sacramento Kings started proceedings for the 2016-2017 season on Monday, when the players and coaching staff reported for media day.

The Kings roster is full of players that could be called ‘misunderstood’. The always outspoken Matt Barnes joined the team over the summer and is expected to serve as a mentor for the demonstrative big man, DeMarcus Cousins.

Another player that carries a reputation with him also made the move to Northern California over the last few months. Veteran point guard Ty Lawson made it clear during Media Day proceedings that he feels as though he’s been unfairly judged and that can be a challenge.

“It’s been pretty hurtful, I guess,” Lawson told CSN California. “Everybody thinks, ‘Ty’s a locker room wrecker,’ I don’t even say stuff in the locker room. I’m quiet, I’m chill. I feel like no one knows who I am. (They’re) just going off what other people say. It’s kind of tough dealing with that.”

Lawson will hope to establish himself as a key player in the Kings' rotation, after short, unimpressive stints in Houston and Indiana. During his six seasons as a star for the Denver Nuggets, the 28-year-old averaged 14.2 points and 6.6 assists.
