The Miami Dolphins bolstered their front seven earlier this month as they signed Melvin Ingram to a one-year deal worth $5 million. The agreement came after Ingram visited the team ahead of last month’s 2022 NFL Draft, and after more talks, the two sides agreed on a contract deal.

Hill is much familiar with Ingram's prowess on the field, as he had a front-row seat to watch him shine on the defensive side of the ball during his half-season run with the Kansas City Chiefs. The veteran defensive end recorded eight quarterback hits and three total sacks in 12 total games played with the Chiefs last season, including the playoffs.

Speaking during the opening week of the Dolphins' OTAs schedule, Hill offered a stamp of approval to his new team’s call to bring in Ingram.

“Just that veteran leadership,” Hill said. “Just adding another brother to the locker room. I just feel like with me and Melvin, me and him grew close in the locker room outside of playing football whether we were playing basketball at one of my good buddy’s gyms in KC and just building that bond together. So when he came here, I was all for it.

“I’m very excited because I really know what Melvin can bring to a team – his mindset, just the way that he approaches his work, his craft and he’s just able to get around guys like Christian (Wilkins) and Emmanuel (Ogbah) and it’s just going to crazy, man. That D-line is going to be crazy.”

Ingram has been the Dolphins’ most notable addition to their defensive line. The team has opted to shift much of its attention in the offseason to rejuvenate the offense. But as Hill touched on, the sky sure will be the limit for the defensive line unit with the likes of Ingram, Christian Wilkins and Emmanuel Ogbah in the fold.
