Phoenix Suns center Tyson Chandler is a believer in the future of the team.

There isn't a night he won't give his heart and soul for the team. Ironically he is considered the heart and soul of the Suns, at least according to coach Earl Watson.

Recently his mother passed away, which has forced him to miss some time away from the team, and Watson revealed surprising news that he was given the opportunity to be traded out of Arizona this summer, but declined to go.

The Suns went 23-59 last season, and have failed to qualify for the post season since 2008. Despite that, Chandler maintained he is content in his position with the Suns.

Watson says Chandler loves the team, and after they talked about the future he decided to stay, per Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic.

“He just wanted to know that what was changing was for the better and it involved a lot of love, compassion and a vision. When we got done with the meeting, his words were clear and simple. He was like, ‘Man, I love you. I love the vision. I love the young guys. I don't want to go anywhere.' And he's come out and he's damn sure played like he doesn't want to be anywhere (else).”

The 34-year-old center and NBA champion is averaging 7.4 points and 13.3 rebounds this season. He remains in California with his family for now with no timetable for his return.
