Udonis Haslem was absent from the team's lineup Friday night before the Miami Heat faced off against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

According to the Miami Herald, the Heat granted him permission to attend his son's high school football game. The Heat forward didn't get a chance to hang around and celebrate his son's team winning the state championship, but it was worth being in the stands.

Limited with injuries, the Heat were able to compete against the Cavs with the NBA's minimum requirement of eight players in uniform, but it was fine with Heat President Pat Riley.

“I mean, I’ve got a great relationship with this organization. I’ve been with them a long time. We’ve sacrificed a lot for each other. I think it was a tougher decision for me to ask than it was for them to answer.”

Despite the team being shorthanded, Haslem didn't abandon his post. He loves the team to his core, but sometimes other things are more important than basketball.

“I’m the ultimate professional. I want to be there for my guys whether it’s playing or mentoring or whatever the situation may be. You know, I never really have been in a situation like this. But being it’s my son’s last high school game ever — and also a state championship — I just wanted to be a part of it.”

The Heat will have other games, but for Haslem's son, it was his last game before leaving for college.

Kedonis Haslem will forever have the memory of him in the stands when he became a champion, just like his father.
