UFC 265 is set to be a big night for MMA. However, in recent news, Amanda Nunes has been forced to pull out of her fight against Julianna Pena. According to MMA Junkie, Nunes has tested positive for COVID-19 and is unable to participate in UFC 265.

The Women's Bantamweight title bout will have to be prolonged as Amanda Nunes will be unable to compete. MMA Junkie reports that Nunes' wife Nina told them, “that all three members of their household – including their infant daughter Raegan – tested positive for COVID-19.” It is unknown if Nunes and her family are experiencing any symptoms, but regardless, UFC 265 will move on without its co-main event.

Dana White has some decisions to make as the main card for UFC 265 has dwindled to just four fights. He'll either look for a replacement bout or, more likely, elevate one of the fights on the prelims to the main card. A third option is to leave the fights how they are and resume business without Nunes and Pena.

Although this highly anticipated title bout has been called off, Julianna Pena is still the next opponent for Amanda Nunes. Pena is confident she can break Nunes' impressive win streak. She has gone far enough to call herself “kryptonite” to Nunes. We'll see how that fight goes as it should be a great bout. However, we'll have to wait a bit longer before it comes to fruition.

The most likely scenario is this fight takes the main card for UFC 267, as UFC 266 is already filled to the brim. This gives Pena an extra two months to prepare for Amanda Nunes. As for UFC 265, it is still headlined by Heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane. The Bantamweight matchup between José Aldo and Pedro Munhoz will seemingly become the new co-main event for UFC 265.
