With Conor McGregor's highly-anticipated rematch with Dustin Poirier just weeks away, the flamboyant Irishman has taken to Twitter to come out with a bold promise for the fans.

According to McGregor, he has every intention to put on a show for MMA supporters all over the world:

McGregor will face Poirier on January 23 as the main event of UFC 257. This will be the second meeting between these two lightweight fighters, with McGregor holding a 1-0 advantage in their matchup. The former lightweight champion needed just one minute and 46 seconds to defeat Poirier via TKO when they faced off back in 2014.

That was six years ago, though. Much has changed since then, and it cannot be understated that both McGregor and Poirer are two different fighters right now.

For his part, Poirier has won no less than 10 bouts since losing to McGregor in 2014, with the 31-year-old American establishing himself as one of the top lightweights in the UFC.

On the other hand, McGregor hasn't fought since January 18, 2019. His last fight was against Donald Cerrone, who McGregor easily defeated in just 40 seconds in the first round. It will be more than a year since he's been in the octagon when McGregor faces off against Poirier on the 24th, and there's no denying that the 32-year-old could be a bit rusty.

McGregor recently made headlines when he decided to save an Irish gym from closing down due to the difficulties brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. Despite how he portrays himself in the media, Conor McGregor is actually a pretty decent guy.
