UFC color commentator Joe Rogan revealed Wednesday that he tested positive for COVID-19, leading him to postpone his upcoming show in Nashville. In a more shocking twist, though, the 54-year-old revealed all the unproven medication he took–including ivermectin.

For those unaware, ivermectin is a medication used to treat parasite infections. There have been several false claims that it can be used to treat COVID-19, but the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention has already refuted this misinformation and advised the public that ivermectin has not been proven and approved for treatment of the dreaded diseases. It can also cause adverse effects if one overdosed on it.

As for Rogan, who made headlines back in July during UFC 264 for interviewing an injured Conor McGregor in the Octagon, shared on Instagram his positive COVID-19 test and what he did after he found out about it. While he has said before that he is not an anti-vaxxer, his comments will certainly not sit well for people campaigning for the vaccination of the general populace.

“I got back from the road Saturday night feeling very weary,” the UFC commentator said, via MMA Junkie. “I had a headache, and I just felt just run down. Just to be cautious, I separated from family, slept in a different part of the house and throughout the night I got fevers and sweats and I knew what was going on. I got up in the morning, got tested, and it turns out I got COVID. So we immediately threw the kitchen sink at it: all kinds of meds. Monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, Z-pack, prednisone – everything. I also got an NAD drip and a vitamin drip, and I did that three days in a row, and here we are on Wednesday, and I feel great.

“I really only had one bad day. Sunday sucked. Monday was better. Tuesday felt better than Monday, and today I feel good. I feel pretty f*cking good. That’s the good news. The bad news is we have to move the Friday show in Nashville. It’s going to move to Sunday, Oct. 24. That’ll be the new Nashville date. Apologies to everyone. Obviously not something I can control. It is what it is. Crazy times we’re living in, but a wonderful, heartfelt thank you to modern medicine for pulling us out so quickly and easily. My love to all of you. Thank you.”

Joe Rogan is one of the more popular figures in UFC and MMA, and since he is a popular comedian, he holds some influence on people. Not to mention his significant following on social media, with 13.1 million followers on Instagram alone.

With several sports leagues and competitions like the NFL and NBA encouraging and actually pushing for vaccination, comments on the unproven treatments and general misinformation certainly doesn't help their cause.
