UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev is not holding back on revealing his real take on Conor McGregor as a person.

Conor McGregor has made his mark not only in the UFC but also in MMA. However, not all are entertained by his flamboyant personality and one of them is UFC rising star Khamzat Chimaev.

Unlike most UFC prodigies, Chimaev is not cocky and doesn’t like to talk a lot of trash. Having witnessed the complete opposite in “Notorious,” Chimaev admitted that it is “impossible” for him to respect McGregor as a man.

“Do I like Conor [McGregor] exactly as an athlete? Yes, he achieved everything in the UFC – he was a champion in two weight classes. This I respect with him,” Chimaev told RT. “But it is impossible to respect him as a person.”

It can be recalled that Chimaev had a little misunderstanding with one of McGregor’s UFC nemesis Khabib Nurmagomedov over some confusing comments on social media.

The said rift didn’t last long as Chimaev quickly cleared the air between him and Nurmagomedov.

As opposed to how he views McGregor, Chimaev even stressed that he has a lot of respect for “The Eagle.”

“I looked up to [Nurmagomedov] him in the beginning, and I still look up to him because he became a champ and he’s one of the best fighters in the world,” he told MMA Junkie in August. “People think I hate him, but I love him because he’s Muslim. I’m Muslim. It’s like the same like he comes from some village like me, same country. I have a lot of brothers from Dagestan, and yeah, I’m Muslim, he’s Muslim – alhamdulillah.”
