UFC veteran Nate Diaz finally gets a nod from Dana White as he eyes another sensational MMA return.

After almost two years of inactivity, Nate Diaz made his UFC comeback in June only to suffer a unanimous decision loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 263.

It was the former UFC lightweight title contender’s second loss in a row but many were still hoping to see Diaz inside the octagon, having put on another entertaining performance against Edwards.

Fortunately, UFC president Dana White confirmed during the UFC Vegas 41 post-fight press conference that the promotion is now “working” on one more fight for Diaz.

“Yeah, he’s got one more fight,” White said when quizzed about Diaz via BJPenn.com. “We are working on a fight for him.”

Diaz and fellow UFC lightweight star Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson have recently showed mutual interest in taking on each other on social media. However, White further revealed that they have no plans of slating both veterans for a fight.

“Tony [Ferguson] wasn’t one of the guys we were working on, but we are working on a fight for Nate now,” he divulged. “He’s got one fight left.”

Looking at Diaz and Ferguson’s current situation, it appears that the pair is a perfect match for a UFC showdown.

Diaz is coming off a two-fight losing streak but his latest showing against Edwards was highlight-worthy. It can be recalled that the 36-year-old was evidently losing the scorecards when he shockingly rocked Edwards in the dying seconds of the final round, almost scoring a knock out.

Ferguson, meanwhile, has gone three fights without a win but has proven that he can still engage in a dog fight in his last fight against Beneil Dariush at UFC 262.
