UFC President Dana White has not exactly been best friends with Yair Rodriguez over the years. The two have had their fair share of issues over various subjects including what fights to take and even problems with USADA.

Yair Rodriguez made his return to the cage after a two-year layoff. He returned to face Max Holloway at UFC Vegas 42. Dana White only had good things to say about the Mexican fighter's performance.

“Anybody who’s off two years, I never expect this kind of performance from them – at all,” White told reporters, including MMA Junkie, at the UFC Fight Night 197 post-fight news conference. “Not just the entire fight, but from the beginning when the fight started, his timing was perfect. His speed and accuracy and how he kept going for the calf kick. You couldn’t look any better than Yair looked tonight. He looked incredible. His chin, heart – just everything. Everything was there.”

For UFC President Dana White, it was one of the rare times when a loss doesn't hurt a fighter. Yair Rodriguez gave Max Holloway everything he could handle.

“His stock didn’t drop at all,” White said. “He came in and fought his ass off. He looked great, and now it’s just going to depend on what type of injuries he has. Go heal up and figure out what’s next.”

It's unclear what is next for Yair Rodriguez but it's obvious he's impressed the UFC brass. Dana White will have an interesting opportunity to match him up in a fun fight next.
