North Carolina put an end to America's favorite underdog story on Sunday, thrashing Saint Peters to knock the Cinderella side out of the NCAA Tournament. After the Tar Heels' convincing win, head coach Hubert Davis couldn't hold back the tears when discussing the amount of pride he has for his team. With the team set to reach the Final Four despite entering March Madness as an 8 seed, Davis was overwhelmed with emotion.

“I'm just so happy for them. I really wanted this for them. I just, I just desperately wanted this for them,” said Davis, fighting back tears as his Tar Heels players celebrated together in the background.

If that doesn't fire up Tar Heels fans, we don't know what will. Davis wore his emotions on his sleeve as he celebrated the victory to clinch UNC's ticket to the Final Four. He couldn't help but let out the tears after all he and his team fought to overcome throughout the up-and-down season.

Considering the struggles UNC endured during the end of the season, there was virtually no expectation that the Tar Heels would stage an NCAA Tournament run, and certainly not to this degree. The result of their late-season woes was the gauntlet of working through the Tournament as an 8-seed, which meant an early matchup against Baylor. No matter who was thrown against the Tar Heels during their run to the Final Four, the team took the challenge in stride.

Davis has every reason to be overflowing with pride right now, as his team has shown the utmost resilience throughout the big dance. They'll now face an all-time historic matchup against Duke in what could be Mike Krzyzewski's last-ever game as a head coach.
