The Jacksonville Jaguars have exactly who they need after hiring Urban Meyer as their head coach.

Tony Wiggins, the host of the daily Locked On Jags podcast, explains why the Jacksonville Jaguars made the right decision with Urban Meyer. It's in an area where most people would otherwise consider it a negative.

Wiggins: It was eight years ago when Kahn made a coaching change after he bought the club. One of the things that he said about the search was that he did not want an egomaniac quarterback. It drove me crazy. I remember sitting at the radio station when I was doing radio when he said that. I hate that he said that, and the reason why is because I can understand why he does not want an egomaniac quarterback to come in here and lead with his ego. We have seen guys do that before and they were epic failures.

What I did not understand that why would you not want a coach who puts his stamp on the team, leads the team, and is the guy that is not just going to be the guy that gets all the credit when they do bad, but he is going to actually take the blame when they do not. That is exactly the type of person that Urban Meyer is and always has been. It is on him. He said it in his introductory press conference, the one thing that he can’t stand is blaming players. If something does not go right, you have to blame the coaches. It is on them and they have to do a better job and they are all his players. That is what an egomaniac does. A guy is only an egomaniac when he loses. You’re not an egomaniac if you win. If you win, then you are a great leader or you are a general. Whether you are a coach or a manager in baseball, it does not matter. You need an ego. Your players have to play with an ego. You can’t be a cover corner trying to stop Julio Jones and not have an ego.
