Naomi Osaka is willing to take risks — not just in tennis, but with her financials as well. In fact, the tennis superstar and reigning women's singles US Open champion has recently revealed that she is now into cryptocurrency, with Dogecoin as her gateway to this newfound interest.

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, the 23-year-old Osaka revealed that she is now getting into cryptocurrency and that she is considering making investments in it.

“I was actually just talking with my agent about cryptocurrencies,” Osaka said in an interview last week. “I know that online, everything is getting bigger. I remember reading about Dogecoin … there’s going to be something new and interesting that’s going to pop up.”

Dogecoin has grown in popularity over the past several months, thanks to meme culture and a few celebrities making a push for it like Elon Musk and Dallas Mavericks team owner Mark Cuban. Bitcoin is still the king of crypto, but there are other currencies out there that are steadily increasing in value and following.

Speaking of gaining ground, Osaka has advanced to the second round of the 2021 US Open after taking down Marie Bouzkova in the opening round to the tune of a 6-4, 6-1 score. Osaka, who won the 2020 edition of the US Open women's singles tournament, will next face Olga Danilovic.
