Right after Lincoln Riley made his move from Oklahoma to USC, five-star quarterback prospect Malachi Nelson announced his decommitment from the Sooners. The expectation was that the No. 2 QB recruit from the Class of 2023 would be following Riley to the Trojans, and sure enough, that came to fruition on Tuesday.

Nelson, a California native, took to social media to announce his commitment to USC:

This is obviously a huge deal for a Trojans program trying to find its way back to relevance after years of mediocrity. Hiring Riley away from Oklahoma to replace the failed Clay Helton was the first big step, and now the former Sooners coach is already getting to work on improving his future fortunes.

Nelson is the No. 3 2023 prospect overall, per ESPN, and only behind Arch Manning in the QB rankings. He's not the only player to decommit from Oklahoma after Riley's departure, but he's the first to join the coach at USC.

However, he might not be the last. Running back Raleek Brown is still committed to the Sooners, but Riley is trying to get him to flip to become a Trojan. ESPN's Tom VanHaaren suggests there's a good chance this flip winds up happening.

Riley's move from Oklahoma to USC is just one of the game-changing coaching moves in college football from the last few days. Brian Kelly going from Notre Dame to LSU also shook up the college football world, and we'll see where the coaching carousel spins next.
