Gamers break stereotypes almost every day, and this time we got a gamer winning gold at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Previously, we reported on a The Witcher fan who wore an amulet winning gold in the air pistol event. VALORANT pro Rowan “magnetbrain” Crothers won gold in the swimming event, representing Australia.

Rowan Crothers participated in the Men’s 50m freestyle. It’s a very heartwarming story for the ages since swimming was initially a type of therapy for Crothers. Ever since he was suffering from Cerebral Palsy, Crothers had to swim in order to reduce his illness. At first, he hated the sport but eventually, he pushed himself to become better. This just proves that hard work does really pay off, given that you put your heart into it.

Crothers finished the 50m freestyle with a time of 23.21 seconds. He was literally five-hundredths of a second short from beating the 50m freestyle world record. In fact, Rowan was in a race with major contenders such as Maksym Krypak and Phelipe Rodriguez only to beat them in the process. No doubt that he has become an inspiration in both the gaming world and the athletic world.

Rowan Crothers already proved in the past that his Cerebral Palsy won’t stop him from doing what he wants. Just becoming a VALORANT pro player alone is no easy feat for people with disorders. This time around, he proves his illness wrong once again when it comes to athletics.
