Valve's newest update gave Dota 2's main menu a sexy new interface, as well as integrating the DPC 2021 season to the game's broadcasting hub.

Goodbye Hoodwink, hello latest match

Valve has been notorious before for having a disorganized viewing experience for its professional circuit. This time, they try to set things straight with the latest update on Dota 2. With this new update, watching the DPC 2021 in-client has become a much better experience.

First off, say goodbye to Hoodwink from the menu screen. The furry Windranger will no longer be greeting players as they log into the game. Instead, the hero you used in your latest match will be there. Your performance in your latest match will also be placed there for everyone behind you to see and laugh at. This is a nice touch made on what used to be just a small window on the upper left side of the screen.

Then, towards the right side of the screen, two frames are visible. One is still the usual latest update portal which leads you to Dota 2's blog article talking about the latest patch. Right now, it's talking about the DPC 2021 season and the sleek new main menu. Below it is the pro games portal which previews a currently-played pro game match. It now prioritizes DPC 2021 matches, so it won't be hard to find out which games are ongoing.

Watch DPC 2021 in-client using Dota 2's sleek revamped Watch tab

Below the ol' Watch tab is a conspicuous little tag that lets the player know that a DPC 2021 match is on-going live. Clicking the Watch tab now reveals three more sub-tabs: Home, Schedule, and Standings, each labeled with an aegis.

Under Home, players can see an overview of current and upcoming matches, with schedules shown at local time. Players can set their favorite teams, which will then allow them to see all of their team's matches on a panel to the right.

Under Schedule, a day-to-day calendar can be found. Players can use this even to review matches held on previous dates. The calendar previews matches in the group stage of both Upper and Lower Divisions all the way to February 28.

Finally, you can see a summary of the standings for all six regions for both divisions. This is a nifty way to see which teams are most likely to proceed to the Playoffs after the group stage.

We're sure that the layout of these screens will be updated after the group stage, but that's news we'll be reporting two months from now.
