Vanessa Bryant is facing a lawsuit from her mother, Sofia Laine, who is claiming Bryant failed to give her due compensation after her husband, late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, died this past January.
Laine claims she had to work extra hours as a caretaker and nanny without built-in breaks, adding Vanessa kicked her out of the home after Kobe died.
Vanessa Bryant responded to the lawsuit Thursday, saying Sofia never took on a position as nanny, per TMZ:
“I have always been a stay at home mother and my husband and I were my daughter's full-time care givers.”
Vanessa [Bryant] continues, “In reality, she only occasionally babysat my older girls when they were toddlers.
“As of ten years ago, our kids were full time students and athletes and I didn't have another child until 2016.”
Vanessa says her mom's claims are “obviously false” — and insists she repeatedly tried to “work things out with my mother” … to no avail.
She concludes … “This lawsuit is frivolous, disgraceful, and unimaginably hurtful. My husband never promised my mother anything, and he would be so disappointed in her behavior and lack of empathy.”
Vanessa Bryant speaks out on her mom trying to ‘extort a financial downfall’ on her and her family with ‘hurtful’ lawsuit:

This is not the only lawsuit Bryant with which has been involved. Bryant sued the Los Angeles County sheriff over leaked photos of the crash that killed Kobe, their daughter Gianna and seven others.
These times must be painful enough for Vanessa Bryant coming up on the one-year mark of the death of Kobe and Gianna Bryant, who passed away on Jan. 26, 2020. But a lawsuit from her own mother also appears to be causing a great deal of stress and unrest.
Vanessa Bryant has dealt with a terrible tragedy along with intense media scrutiny over the past year and now a lawsuit within her own family.
