The North American region for Valorant Champions Tour is ready to kick off on January 27, 2022. The VCT NA Stage 1 Challengers will begin with an open qualifiers for its opener. Only 4 teams will get to advance to the main event for this first open qualifiers on January 27 to 30. The second open qualifier will happen on February 3 to 6.

Four well known teams have already advanced with direct invite to the main event of NA VCT Stage 1. Riot Games has already announced these 4 teams and as follows:

  • Sentinels
  • Team Envy
  • Cloud9
  • 100 Thieves

All four teams mentioned were solely based on their VCT circuit point standings. Three of them competed in Valorant Champions 2021. 

NA VCT 2022 Format

Open Qualifiers

NA VCT will kick off with the open qualifiers to determine 8 teams that will move on to the main event. There will be 2 open qualifiers that will happen featuring a 128-team bracket. Each of those open qualifiers will allocate 4 slots. The tournament will start with a single-elimination format. After reaching round of 32, they will now enter a double-elimination format.

Main Event

The VCT Stage 1 main event will start on February 11, where they will determine from the 12 teams who will advance to the playoffs. Two groups will feature six teams total. The groups will have round robin best-of-three matches to determine the four teams of each group advancing to the playoffs. 

Playoffs

The awaited playoffs is scheduled at March 17, where they will battle it out for the two spots allotted for the first VCT Masters 2022. The playoffs will be using a double-elimination best-of-three ruleset for all matches except for lower bracket finals and grand finals. Best-of-fives will be played for the remaining matches.

VCT allows the use of Valorant's new agent, Neon, for open qualifiers already.
