In the least shocking basketball story of the week, the Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas has released its over/under win totals for the forthcoming season and the Brooklyn Nets were awarded the lowest projection in the league.

Last year, the Nets won 21 games with the partial help of consistent forward Thaddeus Young, but with Young now with the Indiana Pacers, the Nets are left with a core of Brook Lopez, Jeremy Lin and Bojan Bogdanovic. They are now expected to decline in standard and win only 20.5 games.

New Nets general manager Sean Marks hopes that his players find a way to use the projections as motivation but also downplayed the expectations of fans, as transcribed by Nets Daily.

“I don’t think we look at is as bulletin board material,” Marks said. “I mean, you’ve read probably a couple of pieces that some of our guys have said that they don’t agree with those odds and that’s great. That’s exactly what we want … that’s the competitor in them.”

With many fans writing off the Nets’ chances of improvement in 2015-2016, players on the roster may play with a chip on their shoulder. The organization’s fans will hope that the team can move forward, whilst Boston Celtics’ fans will be consistently refreshing the ‘Did The Nets Win’ Twitter page.
