Bogdan Bogdanovic broke the heart of Los Angeles Lakers fans with a dagger on Thursday night. The second-year guard knocked down a three-pointer at the buzzer to lead the Sacramento Kings to a 117-116 win against the Lakers at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

The Lakers were up by two after Kyle Kuzma split his free throws with 4.6 seconds left to play in the game. The Kings had the option to tie the game with a two-pointer, but Bogdanovic had other plans in mind. Instead of trying to force overtime, the 26-year-old went for the win, and the gamble paid off.

Bogdan Bogdanovic led the Kings with 23 points in 30 minutes off the bench. The Serbia native shot 9-for-16 from the field, including a 3-for-7 clip from beyond the arc. De'Aaron Fox almost had a triple-double, as he finished with 15 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds.

Willie Cauley-Stein finished with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Iman Shumpert and Nemanja Bjelica added 18 points apiece. The Kings trailed by as much as 15 points with 6:44 minutes left in the game.

The Lakers looked poised to escape with a road win after a three-pointer from Kuzma that gave them a 115-112 lead with less than a minute to play. However, the Kings managed to recover, capitalizing on several missed free-throws and poor half-court sets from the Lakers down the stretch.

Kuzma had 34 points and nine rebounds in a losing effort. Brandon Ingram added 22 points, while Lonzo Ball ended up with 20 points and 12 assists for the Lakers., who dropped to 20-15 this season.

Los Angeles played without superstar LeBron James, who is nursing a groin injury. James might miss multiple games despite dodging a major injury almost halfway through the 2018-19 NBA season. James is playing in his first year in Los Angeles after signing a massive four-year, $154 million contract this summer.
