If you’re doubting Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell’s readiness for this weekend’s Verizon Slam Dunk Contest, then just stop.

Stop it.

I said stop it.

Oh, so you won’t stop?

That’s cool, but go ahead and watch what Mitchell just did early in tonight’s NBA Rising Stars Challenge, when the rookie out of Louisville woke up the crowd inside the Staples Center with this dunk-contest yam, and good luck telling us with a straight face that this young stud is not hyped up for tomorrow’s slam dunk event.

After perfectly telegraphing Memphis Grizzlies rookie Dillon Brooks’ pass intended for Sacramento Kings shooting guard Buddy Hield, Donovan Mitchell made a dash towards the other end of the floor, but instead of attempting a lazy layup, he made something normal joes won’t be able to pull off in a hundred lifetimes, throwing the ball into the backboard and caught it with one hand before throwing it down hard.

Mitchell is one of the four players who will compete this Saturday in the Slam Dunk Contest. The other three are Cleveland Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr., Dallas Mavericks rookie Dennis Smith Jr., and Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo.

Donovan Mitchell is a replacement for Orlando Magic’s Aaron Gordon in the event, and based on his countless rim onslaughts this season, he is expected to put up a show tomorrow night.

On the season, Mitchell, who was selected 13th overall in last year’s NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets before being traded to the Jazz, is mustering 19.6 points on 43.9 percent shooting from the floor, 3.5 rebounds, and 3,5 assists per game.
