An on-court and locker room championship celebration was not enough for the newly crowned NBA champion Kevin Durant, who was met by a mob of Golden State Warriors fans outside of Oracle Arena, after his team became the first to win a title in the Bay Area since the 1974 Oakland Athletics won the World Series.

On the drive out of the arena, Durant promptly got out of the car to celebrate with the fans, raising his MVP trophy in front of a sea of Warriors faithful and basking in the chants of “MVP!” before being escorted back into the car by Vice President of Public Relations Raymond Ridder.

A championship is the way to a city's heart, and if he hadn't stolen the Bay Area's by signing with Golden State early last summer, he surely did so by capturing yet another piece of hardware in front of the home crowd.

Durant earned Finals MVP honors after averaging 35.2 points on 55.6 percent shooting from the field, 47.4 percent from deep and a crisp 92.7 percent from the stripe, along with 8.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 1.0 steals through five games in the series.
