Matt Prater ensured the Detroit Lions a 30-27 victory over the Washington Football Team in Week 10 with a booming 59-yard kick in the final seconds.

Prater made the kick with plenty of room to spare:

Prater saved the Lions from overtime and a potentially disastrous defeat. Detroit took a 24-3 lead in the second half, only to give up 21 straight points. After the Lions went back up 27-24, Washington tied the game with 16 seconds left, so the game looked destined for overtime.

However, a boneheaded penalty by Washington's Chase Young on a late hit of Matthew Stafford helped Detroit get in range for Prater. Not a good look:

Stafford was instrumental in the Lions' success in Week 10. He 24-of-33 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns. He didn't commit a single turnover in the victory.

With the win, the Lions are now 4-5 for the season. Detroit is in third place in the NFC North, with the 7-2 Green Bay Packers and 5-4 Chicago Bears ahead of them.

The Lions will look to continue their momentum from Sunday in Week 11 against the Carolina Panthers.
