Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant may have to take the entire 2019-20 NBA season to rehab from a torn Achilles tendon, but he is still finding reasons to enjoy life.

Aside from signing a lucrative contract with the Nets this summer, Durant celebrated his 31st birthday by playing Pop-A-Shot with new teammate Kyrie Irving at a New York City Dave & Buster's:

Despite the nature of Durant's injury, he has made plenty of headlines as of late. Durant has been extremely active on Twitter, and some of his peers even believed that he might attempt to return prior to the end of the regular season. However, Nets general manager Sean Marks later said the expectation is that Durant will not play for Brooklyn this year.

From reflecting on his days with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors in an interview with ESPN's Rachel Nichols to making himself readily available during Brooklyn's media day, Durant has offered perspective as he plans to enter the next phase of his career.

Kyrie Irving has done much of the same. The All-Star point guard declared that he “failed” his Celtics teammates as a leader during his time in Boston, and admitted he lost some of his love for basketball after the death of his grandfather last season.

The Nets had the biggest offseason of any Eastern Conference contender. Brooklyn inked Durant and Irving to separate deals while also bringing veteran center DeAndre Jordan to town. Although this Nets team might not be a title contender until Durant gets healthy, they figure to be one of the toughest teams in the East for the foreseeable future.
