Before the Minnesota Timberwolves faced the Los Angeles Lakers, Derrick Rose met with a fan to give him some words of encouragement.

Hunter Simmons is an 18-year-old kid who's currently suffering from leukemia. He's said to be one of Rose's biggest fans, and it has always been his dream to meet his idol in person.

Rose teamed up with Make A Wish Foundation to grant Simmons' request.

Derrick Rose is one of the league's most inspiring players. He was drafted first overall in 2008 by the Chicago Bulls. Three years later, he became the youngest player (22 years old) to win the league MVP award. He was one of the most exciting players in the league and had tons of potential.

Then a series of injuries put a stop to what could've been one of the most successful careers in the NBA.

After being traded by the Bulls, the 11-year veteran considered retirement multiple times, especially after uninspiring stints with the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

However, Rose decided to follow his heart and continue to play basketball. He eventually rejuvenated his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves, currently averaging 19 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists while shooting 48% from the field and 46% from deep in 32 games.

Rose could also find himself back in the All-Star game this season. He's currently one of the leaders in the first round of the All-Star voting after the results were released a few days ago.

Rose experienced first hand how difficult life can be at times, so it is only fitting that he serves as an inspiration for Simmons as he recovers from leukemia.
