35,000 Fans Attend Texas Rangers Season Opener

The Texas Rangers hosted over 35,000 fans at the Globe Life Field for their game against the Toronto Blue Jays on April 5. The event was the first North American Sporting event without attendance restrictions since the pandemic started. The Rangers say the game was a sell-out and that 38,238 people were in attendance at the Globe Life Field. The decision to have fans at the game was made after Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered the state to fully reopen last month. Cameras showed that many of the fans in attendance were not wearing masks, which were required when not eating or drinking. President Joe Biden previously said that the Rangers' decision to have no limits on fans at the game was “not responsible”.
