Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen has a good chance to take the field against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer made this known on Wednesday:

Thielen missed Week 12 after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. However, because he tested negative soon after the positive result, he was undergoing more tests to determine if the positive test could have been false, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Thielen was placed on the COVID list on Nov. 23, meaning 13 days will pass between his placement list and the Vikings-Jaguars matchup. The league's health and safety protocols allow players to return to the field no sooner than 10 days after their first positive test or if they test negative for five consecutive days after testing positive.

Without Thielen, Minnesota eked out a 28-27 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Thielen is second on the Vikings in receptions (49) and receiving yards (646) behind breakout rookie Jordan Jefferson. The veteran receiver has been the most productive red zone target for QB Kirk Cousins, catching a team-leading 11 touchdowns — second in the NFL — including two of the most spectacular scores of the 2020 season:

The 30-year old has started 66 games for the Vikings over the past seven seasons, surpassing the 1,200-yard mark in 2017 and 2018.

At 5-6, the Vikings need to beat the tanking Jaguars (1-10) to stay in the hunt in for a wild-card berth in the NFC. Minnesota currently sits in eighth place in the playoff picture, one game behind the Arizona Cardinals (6-5) for the final spot.

Jacksonville has not won a game since Week 1.
