There has been plenty of speculation regarding a looming contract extension for Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook. Although there is not much talk about any headway being made, it seems Cook has an idea of how he would like his future to play out.

According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Cook is hoping to bring Minnesota its first Super Bowl championship.

Cook's comments indicate that he has every intention of staying in Minnesota for the long haul. It now remains to be seen whether both sides can make it come to fruition or not.

The restrictions placed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have offered top its own set of challenges for teams trying to lock down layers to long-term deals. However, this has not stopped the elite players at their position like running back Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle from receiving their lucrative paydays.

Cook is now entering the final year of his rookie deal and would undoubtedly like some long-term security. He showed that he is more than capable of handling workhorse duties as an every down back after finishing the 2019 campaign with 1,135 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns while tacking on with 53 receptions for 519 yards.

Unfortunately, paying running backs big money has been viewed as somewhat of a taboo by many teams in the NFL. It will be interesting to see if the Vikings are willing to meet Cook's price tag given their efforts to shore up some cap space this offseason.
