Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr has become public enemy No. 1 in Green Bay after his hit on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers back in Week 6’s 23-10 win.

Barr suffered a concussion following that collision with Rodgers, but the latter also landed on the injured reserve list, missing eight weeks of action, because of that. Since then, Barr has constantly received vile messages online from angry Packers fans who blame him for their team’s struggles.

Their logic was simple: the Packers are going to miss the playoffs because Barr did his job.

Twitter posts are filled with statements of him being a dirty player, with some taking it as far as to wish him bodily harm. The linebacker shared one such sentiment on Snapchat, posting a photo of a letter sent to him in the mail from someone hoping “you get your neck snapped.”

Between the Vikings and the Packers, Green Bay suffered the most, as the team went 3-4 in the games Rodgers missed despite the best efforts from backup quarterback Brett Hundley. The Packers haven’t missed the boat to the postseason in a long while. The last time Green Bay didn’t make it to the playoffs was in 2008.

Rodgers came back to play last Sunday, but failed to lead the Packers to a win, taking a 31-24 loss at the hands of the Carolina Panthers instead. That loss and the Atlanta Falcons win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the following day erased the Packers playoffs dreams.

Barr won’t be seeing Rodgers this Saturday in a rematch with the Packers with the quarterback placed on the IR again.
