Since taking over the starting duties for the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2 of the regular season, veteran quarterback Case Keenum has continually faced persistent questions about his long-term future with the team.

This has continued to ring loudly despite Keenum helping lead the Vikings to a first-round playoff bye. It has once again become a prominent topic of discussion after the team placed quarterback Sam Bradford on the active roster ahead of their divisional round matchup against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Minnesota is still committed having the 29-year-old under center.

“Case is the guy,” said a source with knowledge of the situation, one day before the Vikings host the Saints in the divisional round of the playoffs.

The Vikings have stayed on that course throughout the season as Keenum has proven to be more than a viable option. In 15 games played, he posted career highs across the board with 3,547 yards with 22 touchdowns with just seven interceptions while holding a 98.3 quarterback rating. This includes finishing second in the league with a 67.8 percent completion rate and seventh in quarterback rating.

Keenum also held a passer rating above 100 eight times this season while tossing multiple touchdowns seven times. He has simply performed well above what the team had expected after Bradford was sidelined with a knee injury following his impressive Week 1 outing.

The Vikings hoped had been for Bradford to be under center as the clear-cut starter, but Keenum has taken full advantage of the situation. He is now set to start his first playoff game of his career with a chance to help guide the Vikings to their first Super Bowl win.

Ultimately, his future with the team may hinge on he performs in the playoffs starting with a tough matchup against a difficult challenge in the Saints.
