Minnesota Vikings lead-back Dalvin Cook did not finish Monday night's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The tailback — who is well on his way to a Pro-Bowl appearance — suffered a chest injury in defeat. He has been a limited participant in practice since.

The injury isn't going to stop Cook from playing on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. According to head coach Mike Zimmer, the third-year back is “close to 100-percent” to play in Week 14, per Chris Tomasson of St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Cook feels good. On Wednesday, he explained.

I feel good. Actually, better than I expected. I’ll be out there on Sunday and ready to get a W,” said Cook, via the team's official website. “I don’t feel like it’s going to hold me back from playing in any game. It’s more of just, lay off the contact during the week and get ready for Sunday. That’s just going to be my plan in preparing for these next couple of games.”

Cook is the focal point of the Vikings' offense and the NFL's sixth-ranked rushing attack (137.1 yards per game). The former Florida State Seminole is fifth in the NFL in rushing yards with 1,046. His 12 rushing touchdowns are tied for the top in the league with Carolina Panthers' Christian McCaffrey.

The Vikings appear to have avoided the worst-case-scenario in Cooks' diagnosis. They will need him moving forward, as though they sit at 8-4, they are far from a lock to make the NFL playoffs. In a daunting NFC, the Vikings will likely need to win at least three of their next four to have a shot at the Lombardi.
